Exciting UK Adventure Holidays for Families

When it comes to taking a family holiday we are all for encouraging children to get out and explore.  The UK has so much to offer for anyone looking for a fun and active family break.

Just a few ideas to get you started when planning your family adventure include...

1. Cycling

Cycling as a family can be a great way to see areas of the country you might not see when travelling by car.  You can get up close with nature and choose the idea beauty spots to stop off and enjoy a family lunch.

There are various cycle routes all over the UK.  One idea is to choose a route close to home to start with as a practice run.  You could plan a route and stay overnight at a few stops such as a hotel or campsite to make the travel even more exciting.

2. Theme Parks

The UK has some amazing theme parks including Alton Towers, Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley.  Make a holiday of it by staying in a hotel or lodge close to a theme park and visit on a few days of your holiday to really make the most of it.

Try out all the exciting rides and make the most of the park entertainment for the little ones from bird shows to family fun. Some theme parks such as Flamingo Land include a Zoo as well so there is something for the whole family.

3. Watersports

If you're an active family and like the idea of a water based holiday then head for a costal resort such as Cornwall or maybe head to the Lake District and somewhere like Windemere Waterports where you can choose from a wide range of activities.  From Kayaking to Paddle Boarding the options are vast and you can choose to book lessons as well to get the hang of it before venturing out on the water on your own.

A resort such as Landal Kielder Waterside is also amazing for watersports and you can book a Paddleboard session with an instructor where you can learn about carrying a Paddle Board, how to get on and use it safely and how to stand up.  As well as having lots of fun in the process!

4. Fishing

Fishing has traditionally been known as a father and son activity but why not get the whole family involved?  You can choose holiday parks and lodges with fishing on the doorstep and these types of holidays make for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.  You could even choose a lodge with a hot tub and make it a luxurious stay as well.

Lots of parks offer Carp Fishing on site and you can check if there are any restrictions before you go.  Choose from woodland and countryside lodges with their own Carp fishing lakes.

Make memories and remember the excitement the first time you catch a fish! One tip is to take your own fishing bait and look for the best boilies for summer carp fishing to help you get that first catch!   If fishing is not for the whole family then there is always the option to relax in the hot tub and spend time walking and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

5. Forest Adventures

Forest adventures are perfect for families with older kids looking for exciting activities to keep them entertained.  Things like Go Ape courses and paintballing are just some of the things on offer at forest type holidays.
